Scholarship Application

Scholarships are awarded every year to undergraduate engineering students by the Minnesota Professional Engineers Foundation (MPEF), the non-profit, charitable foundation of MnSPE.

Scholarship applications are currently being accepted. All applications must be received (if emailed) or postmarked (if mailed) by Friday, October 27, 2017. The MPEF Scholarship Committee will select scholarship winners in December.

Application FAQs

Am I eligible?

Full-time undergraduate students enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program at a college or university in the state of Minnesota and have at least sophomore status or above for the current school year are eligible to apply.

Is my school ABET-accredited?

These are ABET-accredited schools in Minnesota:
• Iron Range Engineering
• University of Minnesota
• University of Minnesota-Duluth
• University of St. Thomas
• Minnesota State University Mankato
• St. Cloud State University
• Winona State University

What criteria are used to award scholarships?

Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, essay and personal statement, work and volunteer experience, a letter of recommendation and more.

When can I apply?

The scholarship application is available beginning in October and is due mid-November. The MPEF Scholarship Committee chooses scholarship winners in December.

How do I apply?

The scholarship application will be posted on this page, and can be submitted online or hard copy.

What is the MN Professional Engineers Foundation (MPEF)?

MPEF promotes careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). We do this by providing scholarships to college students, sponsoring and staffing STEM community events, and providing financial support to existing education and outreach programs.
